Our Story
Flux Physiotherapy
Callum established Flux Physiotherapy to provide elite-level physiotherapy assessment, treatment and management to the broader population. He takes great pride in advanced-level clinical reasoning, which has always benefitted the choice and selection of the most appropriate and evidence-based practice for his patient’s needs.
Callum currently works part-time as an Advanced Practice Physiotherapist for Oxfordshire`s NHS provider. His role is to treat, assess, and manage complex presentation musculoskeletal patients. He regularly utilises imagery within his role and specialist triage to multiple secondary care units, both NHS and private suppliers. He also performs musculoskeletal corticosteroid injections within these specialist clinics and provides support and mentorship to the broader Oxfordshire physiotherapy team.
Reaching this point has taken over 12 years of hard work and dedication, building experience through academic study and clinical practice.
The Journey
Callum has always tried to help others in need and has a strong desire to work in a role where he was rewarded for helping others. This led to studying physiotherapy at the University of Hertfordshire, where he graduated in 2013.
Since qualifying, he worked extensively to improve his postgraduate experience when he began in private clinics throughout Berkshire, seeing both private and NHS GP referral patients with musculoskeletal conditions and injuries. He secured a rotational physiotherapy role at the flagship NHS clinic at University College London Hospital. Here, he was exposed to some of the most complex and challenging patients in the UK, in their specialist musculoskeletal clinic. He was a lead physiotherapist for their fracture clinic and dealt with many variations of trauma and complex orthopaedic surgery patients. In this role, he was also regularly involved in a chronic pain clinic and helped with hydrotherapy rehab. His specialist interest in hypermobility was also manifested as he helped with running the nation’s only hypermobility specialist centre. Within these clinics, he utilised APPI Pilates exercises to provide highly modified exercise plans and classes for high-needs patients with complex musculoskeletal disorders and chronic pain.
Callum became a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist in 2015 when he started with the NHS musculoskeletal and diagnostic imagery provider for Buckinghamshire. He continued to work in a busy musculoskeletal clinic environment which took patients from GP, consultant and self-referral. He completed advanced-level diagnostic imagery interpretation courses and has been IRMER trained since 2015, allowing him to refer directly to MRI, Ultrasound and X-ray investigations within the NHS clinic. This vastly improved his knowledge base and how to diagnose and better manage patients with more complex presentations.
In 2018, he changed settings to work more closely within orthopaedic consultant clinics within private healthcare. This brought him to Nuffield Health’s flagship hospital, the Manor in Oxford. Within this role, he built close relationships with many consultants who specialise in areas such as orthopaedic surgery, sarcoma removal, and women’s health. He continues to hold strong links with these consultants within the Manor and wider NHS specialist clinics.
Alongside maintaining busy musculoskeletal job roles, he has, in his spare time, been involved in many different elite and social-level sporting environments. These have included physiotherapy at the under-18s national indoor athletics, support for runners during the London marathon and cover for Oxford United Football Club. He is also regularly called to pitch-side action during hockey games throughout the county and for the occasion of rugby or netball matches.
